POSITION SUMMARY: Under close supervision and reporting to Lead Automation Technician or Automation Coordinator, the Automation Technician within an assigned area performs a variety of tasks including troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, calibrating, and operating electrical and pneumatic instrumentation. The Automation Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operation and maintenance of assigned field automation equipment. This role is capable of handling and resolving most problems except ones requiring engineering assistance. Uses both depth and breadth of knowledge across the field to analyze and solve complex problems, as well as demonstrates understanding of automation equipment operation, and its interfaces with field processes. Additionally, this role multitasks and works well under pressure. An Automation Technician needs to build, start-up/commission, optimize and maintain field.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Secure and maintain all Jonah-issued equipment, including but not limited to computers, vehicles, and analysis of test equipment
- Build, Install and maintain all Automation equipment which includes: Fisher RTUs, Cygnet SCADA software, MDS Tropos telemetry, Schneider SCADApack32, Allen Bradley, and ABB equipment
- Maintain compliance, in conjunction with and through close coordination with the Lead Automation Technicians, Automation Coordinator and EHS Department, for all regulatory, environmental and safety issues
- Identify problematic units using available business tools. Troubleshoot problems and execute corrective actions as required
- Perform and interpret predictive maintenance work such as end devices calibrations, quarterly and annual device checks
- Maximize profitability and operating expenses of automation budgets
- Observe and analyze work: stop any unsafe work being performed by employees or contractors
- Work with engineering, accounting, completions, construction, EH&S, planning, land and regulatory to improve operations, accurately account for production, reduce operating expense, implement new technology, and reduce safety and environmental hazards
- Participate in safety program by performing safely: hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response and others as per Jonah Energy standards
- Work with operations staff to ensure all equipment is optimized for optimal productivity
- Align priorities and results with Jonah Energy asset goals
- Operate a vehicle safely (in all weather conditions) to drive to oil & gas equipment location
- Maintains respectful and productive working relationships between the Field Operations group as well Denver Office groups
- Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation

OTHER DUTIES:
- Oversee roustabouts/service crews on proper work and procedures when needed. Assist to maintain good relations with vendors, contractors, landowners, and the community
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support the success of the department and company
- Overtime, call-out, and on-call hours day or night are required, as necessary

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Identify automation issues that need troubleshooting, and problem solve solutions
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Creative individual, capable of analyzing and providing solutions to mechanical issues
- Proficient Computer skills: MS Office suite
- Basic electrical skills and safe working practices
- Professional integrity and accountability
- Work in fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe work behavior and habits
- Maneuver heavy objects and understand the operation of production equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communication; skills to include phone and radio communication

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of Oil & Gas experience or related industry
- Degree, or certificate in one or more of the following areas
- Electrical
- Solid State Electronics
- Automation

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Employee must have a valid driver’s license
- Possess or working toward Low Voltage Technician license

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in CygNet, RocLink, SuprOS.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of exploration and production Oil & Gas experience.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Low Voltage Technician license
