The Sublette County Sheriff's Office gave public tours of the new jail facility on Friday and Saturday, March 26th & 27th. The complex, which will house from 48-50 adult prisoners, will be ready for inmates in early April. Construction for the project began in January, 2002.
The new jail creates twelve new jobs and has state-of-the art communications and command centers, including Enhanced 911 emergency dispatch stations. Food services for inmates will be provided by the Hi-Country Senior Citizens Center in Pinedale. The separate Juvenile Detention Pod portion of the jail facility is still under construction and will be completed with the final phase.
Cost to complete the new Sublette County Government Facilities Project is $8.4 million dollars. Construction is being provided by Hogan & Associates Construction Inc. The Space Needs Analysis was done in 1998 by Brad Waters of Providence Architecture, Inc. The project has been guided by a five-year Master Plan with four phases. The scope of entire reconstruction project for the courthouse includes the new detention and justice center, remodeling of the old county library to house Circuit Court and the County Attorney offices, and new facilities for the County Assessor, Clerk of District Court, Planning & Zoning, District Court, GIS, County Treasurer, and County Clerk.
