New groomed X-C ski trails near Pinedale

The Sublette County Recreation Board is working to make 5K of groomed cross-country ski trails available to skiers near Pinedale this winter. The trails are partially on the new bike/walking path between Pinedale and the CCC Ponds near Fremont lake, as well as several kilometers of loop trails that follow two-track roads near the bike path. The trails would be groomed from December 15th to March 15th each year by the Pinedale Ski Education Foundation. Funding has been provided by the Sublette County Recreation Board.
The Rec Board is working with the Pinedale Ranger District/Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Bureau of Land Management, the Wyoming Game & Fish Department and the Town of Pinedale to get approval for the new ski trail project. The Board has already received approval from the Wyoming Game & Fish Department and the Town of Pinedale. The project is currently in front of the Forest Service and BLM for comment and appears to have preliminary support.
Skiers will be able to enjoy a new warming hut/storm shelter located near the trail at the CCC Ponds parking lot. Restrooms are available nearby on the other side of the parking area at the ponds. There is also a new small parking area located where the bike path crosses the Gun Club road which will provide access to the groomed trails from the south end. This lot will accommodate about 6-8 vehicles. Access to the north end of the trails is from the lower Fremont Lake boat ramp parking area by the Town of Pinedale chemical feed building. The Town of Pinedale will plow the road to the chemical feed station at the lower boat ramp, as needed. The access road to the CCC ponds will not be plowed. The warming hut/shelter will be in the "wilderness", enhancing its location as a stopping point or lunch point.
