Snake River Canyon Report
November 10, 2004
According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), overnight closures have ceased for the season on the Cabin Creek road construction project about mid-way through the Snake River Canyon. There are no delays for commuter traffic during the hours of 5:30 am-7:30 am and 5-7 pm. Road construction is still taking place, however, and travelers may run into some 20-minute delays during the day between 7:30 am to 5 pm, and again in the evening from 7 pm to 11 pm. Expect some bumpy road stretches and possible falling rock through the Snake River Canyon. This report is in effect until November 20th. Typically, WYDOT issues special travel reports and hours for the Thanksgiving holiday traveling time period, which we will post when we receive it.
There are reduced speed limits in the road construction areas with higher traffic fines for speeding in construction zones in the Snake River Canyon. Current road conditions are broadcast on the radio on channel 1610 AM near the Snake River Canyon. More information is available by calling WYDOT at 307-777-4796.
