Robert Spence, 78, dies in collision near Rock Springs

Pinedale resident Robert Spence, 78, was killed Friday, May 13th, in a vehicle collision near Rock Springs. According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred Friday night around 10:30 pm about 12 miles north of Rock Springs in Sweetwater County on US Highway 191. Spence was northbound, when for unknown reasons, he swerved and crossed the center line into the southbound land colliding with the side of a vehicle and trailer driven by Terry Jones of Rock Springs. The collision caused the Jones vehicle to jackknife and come to rest on the shoulder. The Spence vehicle came to rest in the roadway in the northbound lane. Mr. Spence died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Mr. Jones was hospitalized at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital in Rock Springs. Jones was cited for failing to wear a seat belt.
