Snow in the Winds Snow dusted the Wind River Mountains Tuesday. Snow in the Wyoming Range Snow dusts Triple Peak in the Wyoming Range on Tuesday. The next day Much of the snow had melted by Wednesday.

Cooler temperatures and a series of thunder squalls brought hail to the valley and snow to the high Wind River Mountains on Tuesday. Snow may come and go for the next couple of weeks before deciding to stay for good as winter nears. Backcountry travelers should be prepared for snow, have clothing to layer for warmth and bring sleeping bags rated for below freezing temperatures. There is still time for a few more late-season high country hikes, just be prepared for abrupt changes in the weather in the high country.
