Migration Corridor
October 5, 2005
For years we have been waiting for the Wyoming Department of Transportation webcam at Trapper's Point to catch some of the thousands of wildlife that are reported to migrate up and down the Upper Green River Valley.
This WYDOT webcam updates about every 10 minutes, giving a 24-hour/day continuous photo record of activity through the now famous "Trapper's Point Bottleneck" area. Wednesday morning, the camera did catch a herd of animals crossing through the bottleneck, but it wasn't wildlife.
This is part of the fall Green River Drift roundup of cattle from National Forest grazing allotments in the Upper Green. Usually, cattle move across this location through a highway underpass, approximately where the vehicles in this picture are located, so they aren't mixing with highway traffic.
WYDOT expects to have the wildlife warning flashers up and operational in a couple of weeks.
