November 25, 2005
(Pinedale) The National Weather Service out of Riverton has issued a Snow Advisory for western Wyoming from 6 pm Friday to 6 pm Saturday, November 25. The advisory is for wintery weather impacting the Upper Green River Valley, south Lincoln County and Jackson Hole areas, including Pinedale, Jackson, Afton, Alpine, Thayne, Kemmerer to Cokeville.
Snowfall is expected to start after dark on Friday and intensify after midnight. Snow is expected to continue through Saturday, and be heavy at times, possibly causing travel difficulties. Up to 4-6 inches of new snow is expected by sunset Saturday evening. Adjacent mountains could see from 6-10 inches of snow accumulations.
Drivers are advised to be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities and to use caution. Higher volume holiday weekend traffic will add to the possible driving hazards. Areas of particular caution include the Rim on Hwy 191 between Daniel and Bondurant, and the Star and Jackson Valleys.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for eastern Wyoming, the Bighorn Mountains and Johnson County for Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Gusty winds will cause significant blowing and drifting snow creating hazardous road conditions and limited visibility for travelers.
