Hunting application period begins
Hunters urged to apply early
January 3, 2006
(Cheyenne) As the new year is ushered in, so are many application periods for Wyoming hunting licenses. All bison and limited quota spring turkey hunters and nonresident elk hunters are alerted their 2006 applications must be received at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Cheyenne Office by 5 pm January 31.
The deadline for both resident and nonresident moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat applications is February 28 and nonresident deer and antelope is March 15.
The Game and Fish urges hunters to apply early in the application period due to the potential of winter storms or other factors that could delay delivery. It is particularly important for nonresident elk, deer and antelope hunters to submit applications this year, because applicants can begin accruing preference points if they choose.
Nonresident applications are available by calling (307) 777-4600. Resident applications can be picked up at license agents and Game Fish offices. All applications are also available from the Game and Fish web site at http://gf.state.wy.us.
Anyone with questions about the application periods or licenses is urged to call the Game and Fish at (800) 842-1934 or (307) 777-4600 outside Wyoming.
