New Sage Grouse Seed Brochure

The Upper Green River Basin Local Sage Grouse Working Group has recently printed a seed mix brochure that will be helpful to anyone wishing to do plantings that are beneficial to sage grouse, mule deer, antelope and associated sage steppe wildlife species.

The brochure gives seed rates, planting zones, species that will grow in alkaline soils, plants that may be toxic to livestock and wildlife, non-native species that may have planting restrictions, best times to seed, planting techniques and sources for seed.

Cover crops can reduce weed problems, stabilize soil, help increase moisture and protect small seedlings as they are germinate and growing. The brochure is a combined effort by the BLM, NRCS, Wyoming Department of Game & Fish and the Upper Green River Basin Local Sage Grouse Working Group.
