Severe Thunderstorm Watch Tuesday

The National Weather Service out of Riverton has issued an alert for severe thunderstorms possible across southwest Wyoming Tuesday afternoon for western and central Wyoming.
An area of low pressure over northern Nevada will move into Wyoming Tuesday night bringing strong winds ahead of it. Winds of 20-30 mph with occasional gusts to around 40 mph will be common, especially across southwest Wyoming.
Thunderstorms will develop in the early afternoon Tuesday across Lincoln and Sweetwater counties. These thunderstorms have the potential for damaging wind gusts of around 60 mph. The storms are expected to move north and possibly affect Sublette County as well. Most areas will see rain, however higher elevations above 8500 feet may see snow showers.
This Pacific storm system will move across Wyoming Thursday into Friday. Snow will fall across much of the area by Thursday night. Lower valley locations will see a rain-snow mix. The storm system is expected to move out of the area Friday with improving conditions from west to east during the day.
The storms may bring possible power outages. Pinedale and Big Piney lost power briefly mid-morning on Tuesday.
