May 19 declared Arbor Day in Pinedale
May 8, 2006
Pinedale Mayor, Rose Skinner, has proclaimed Friday, May 19, as Arbor Day in Pinedale.
Arbor Day has been celebrated across the country since 1872, when J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees. Since that time, many states have joined in seeing the value of planting trees to help reduce erosion, moderate temperature, produce oxygen and provide habitat for wildlife. Trees help increase property values, enhance the economic vitality of business areas and help beautify communities. Pinedale citizens are urged to celebrate Arbor Day and support efforts to protect trees and woodlands. The Town encourages the planting of trees to help promote the well-being of this and future generations.
