Sage Grouse Group to meet in Pinedale July 25
by Wyoming Game & Fish Department
July 25, 2006
The Upper Green River Basin Local Sage Grouse Working Group will hold their next meeting Tuesday, July 25th, 2006, at the Pinedale Fire Hall starting at 9:00 AM. One agenda item will be a discussion of livestock grazing as it pertains to sage grouse habitat. The Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and the Bureau of Land Management propose to develop a comprehensive literature synthesis and recommended management practices for sage-grouse habitats on a regional basis throughout the range of sage grouse. The proposal will be presented at the meeting to gather input from the local working group. Recommended Grazing Management Practices, as well as recommendations related to other land use practices that have the potential to impact sage grouse, will be incorporated into the local working group's sage grouse conservation plan.
The group is comprised of nine local citizens, representing groups interested in sage-grouse conservation. The role of the group, is to develop and set in motion local conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and, whenever feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats.
The public is invited to attend the meeting and a public participation period will be scheduled.
The G&F supports the Americans with Disabilities Act. Anyone needing auxiliary aids to attend this meeting should call 800-423-4113. Every effort will be made for reasonable accommodations.
