Pinedale Half Marathon Sept. 23
3rd annual 13.1 mile and 10K Walk/Run
September 12, 2006
9/22/06 Update, Half Marathoners: Organizers have made a last minute change to move the Start/Finish line and after-race picnic for the Pinedale Half Marathon to Rendezvous Pointe in Pinedale. It originally was scheduled to base from the American Legion Park. The change was made due to the sudden change in the weather. Organizers want to have the race meeting area in a warm lunch location. The event routes have been adjusted and the course will be well marked. The Lions Club will be cooking a lot of delicious pork tenderloin. So whether you will be in the Half Marathon Walk-Run, or just would like to spectate and watch the runners cross the finish line, come on down and join the fun! ________________________________________________
On Saturday, September 23, Pinedale will host the 3rd annual Pinedale Half Marathon. The event includes a 13.1 mile half marathon as well as a 10K (6.2 mile) and 1 mile course. Participants may run or walk any of the courses for this fun event. No performance prizes will be given.
The Half Marathon begins at 8:30 am on Saturday at the American Legion Park in Pinedale. The course takes participants from Pinedale across the hilly glacial moraines near Pinedale to Fremont Lake. The course has scenic views of the lake and the Wind River Mountains. Pinedale and the Upper Green River Valley can be seen on the return loop. The courses will be signed and will have staff at frequent water stations.
The 10K course will begin at 9:30 am. Participants should meet at the American Legion Park at 8:30 am for transportation to Fremont Lake. This course starts on the eastern shore of Fremont Lake, using the same route as the final six miles of the Half Marathon.
The 1 mile begins at 10:30 am at the American Legion Park.
Cost to enter either the Half Marathon or 10K is $12.50. There is no fee to enter the 1-mile event.
Entrants in the longer courses will receive a long-sleeve commemorative wind shirt and finisher’s medal. Finishers of the 1-mile will receive a medal.
Following the Half Marathon, there will be a free BBQ picnic lunch, sponsored by EnCana USA, open to the public. There will be live entertainment. Everyone is welcome.
Organizers are seeking volunteers to help with the event on the day before the event and on race day. The Pinedale Half Marathon has no paid employees. It is organized by locals who have an interest in running and walking. Volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt.
