The first snow of the season fell on Friday, September 22, supposedly the last day of summer!

Storm brings first snow to Pinedale valley
1-4 inches of snow in the mountains and valley floor

Even though the calendar says it’s officially the last day of summer, Wyoming weather had its own mind. A strong low pressure system moved through the area Thursday night dropping several inches of snow in the mountains and a dusting on the floor of the Upper Green River Valley. Some portions of Wyoming saw as much as nine inches out of the storm. Sublette County got from 1-4 inches of snow. The valley snow pretty much melted off by mid-day.
There is a Snow Advisory for the eastern slopes of the Wind River Mountains through this afternoon (Friday), with 6-10 inches of snow possible. The heaviest rain and snow will shift to eastern Wyoming by afternoon. The Bighorn Mountains and Casper Mountain are expected to get from 12-16 inches of snow.
Travel conditions will be impacted significantly today along Highway 28 over South Pass. Snow is expected to continue through Saturday morning and then taper in the afternoon.
