October 5, 2006
The National Weather Service out of Riverton is advising that scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over the next several days to western and central Wyoming. These storms may produce heavy rain, lightning, hail and wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
Patchy, dense fog may develop in places in the valley in the early morning hours. Thick fog may bring visibility down to near zero in swales and low-lying areas. Use caution when driving in the morning. Fog should dissipate by mid-morning with the warming of the day.
Over the weekend, another even stronger weather system is poised to impact the area and bring more rain showers and scattered thunderstorms. These storms may produce wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, heavy rain and hail.
Snow levels are expected to stay above 10,000 feet during the day and drop to between 7,500-8,500 feet at night over the weekend. The snow levels will drop further as the colder air begins to filter in with this next system.
