Here are some of the celebrations and activities taking place around Pinedale to ring in the New Year:
Green River Rondy Sled Dog Race: Saturday and Sunday, December 30 & 31. Mushers and their sled dog teams will converge on the Upper Green for the annual sled dog races. Free shuttles from Rendezvous Pointe every 45 minutes. Races begin at 8:30 and run to about 12:30 each day. More info: www.greenriverrondy.com
White Pine Ski Area Torchlight Parade: Annual Torchlight Parade on Sunday, December 31 at White Pine Ski Area. Lift starts at 5:00 pm. Ski in the parade and then enjoy the chili fest afterwards. Parade starts approximately 5:30. No charge to ride the lift. Wear old clothes if you will be skiing in the parade (torches generate sparks). Parade is for intermediate or better skiers; young children not recommended in the parade, but are welcome to watch from the lodge. Chili, cornbread and small drink for $7.00. White Pine offers fine casual dining upstairs in the lodge for those who wish to take in dinner. Reservations highly recommended. We recommend going up early before the 4:00 PM down-road rush of cars leaving the ski area. White Pine is located 10 miles north of Pinedale on Fremont Lake Road. The Place Restaurant & Bar: Music starts at 9:00 PM. Dinner served from 5-10 PM on Sunday, December 31. Weekend specials: Steak & Lobster, King Crab Legs, Filet Mignon, Prime Rib. Balloon drop and free champagne at midnight. Reservations recommended, but not required. 25 miles north of Pinedale on Hwy 352. Cabins available. Snowmachine rentals available.
