BTNF grants WG&F permits to go on Forest
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
January 5, 2007
The Bridger-Teton National Forest has issued four short-term permits to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department allowing them to use and occupy Bridger-Teton land in order to manage the elk populations in the area. The permits are for the Pritchard and Fish Creek Feed Grounds on the Jackson Ranger District, and the Muddy Creek and Fall Creek Feed Grounds on the Pinedale Ranger District. The permits are set to expire on April 15, 2007.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has the responsibilities to manage wildlife populations, which includes making decisions or taking actions to feed, test, vaccinate, remove diseased animals, or otherwise manage the health of the elk herds. The purpose of the temporary permits from the Bridger-Teton is only to allow the State to utilize the National Forest system lands for the activities associated with winter feeding. These activities include maintaining items such as horse corrals, hay sheds, tack sheds, and an elk trap.
For questions on the temporary permits, please contact Pinedale District Ranger Craig Trulock at 307-739-5513.
