Sublette County to accept hazardous waste year-round
January 14, 2007
The Sublette County Commissioners have decided to go to year-round acceptance of hazardous household waste at the County landfills rather than only on the once-a-year schedule used in the past. This is in response to requests from the public.
The process will be implemented by Rick Hoffman, Waste Management Superintendent for the County, who will coordinate the Pinedale Recycling Center.
Material will be picked up from the recycling center by a hazardous waste disposal company and trucked to an appropriate location for processing. Items that will be accepted include refrigerators and freezers that contain freon (doors must be removed), televisions, computers and components, and household paint. Containers must have lids on them.
Acceptable hazardous household materials will be accepted at the Pinedale Recycling Center, the Pinedale Transfer Station and the Marbleton Landfill at designated times and days ONLY. Beginning January 17th, items will be accepted on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at these locations. Staff at these stations can answer questions regarding what will be accepted as hazardous household materials.
There will also be a bin transfer at the Pinedale Transfer Station to accept recyclables.
