Overhead sign on I-80 to be removed March 25
by Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT)
March 21, 2007
(Rock Springs) - The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be closing a portion of Interstate 80 on Sunday, March 25, to facilitate the removal of the overhead sign structure at Exit 102, Dewar Drive.
On Sunday morning at 7:30, one lane on the eastbound segment will close and crews will begin setting up a crane for the sign removal. At 10 a.m., the Wyoming Highway Patrol will assist the crews with closures of the eastbound lanes, as well as the eastbound off-ramp for Dewar Drive.
Once the sign is swung out of the way of traffic, the lanes will reopen. The closure of the eastbound lanes is expected to last 10-15 minutes. The westbound lanes will not be affected during this project.
Sunday morning was selected as the best time to close the interstate because traffic counts shows this period to have the least amount of traffic volumes and will have the least amount of impact on the traveling public. WYDOT apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and asks for the public's patience during this temporary closure.
