Mock car accident planned for April 20
Demonstrate effects of teenage alcohol use and drinking and driving
by Wil Gay, Sublette County EMS
April 18, 2007
On Friday, April 20, at 12:30 pm, there will be a mock car accident in the parking lot of Sublette School District #1’s bus barn, just west of Pinedale. This is a joint effort between Sublette County EMS, the Sublette County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department.
The purpose of the exercise is to send a message to our community’s youth and adults alike about the effects of teenage alcohol use and drinking and driving.
In the United States, every fifteen minutes a person is killed in an alcohol-related accident. Our goal is to make the community aware of this by demonstrating first hand what happens after the accident occurs.
The entire Pinedale High School student body will be present at the bus barn for the demonstration, and the public is invited to attend. We ask that if you would like to watch the demonstration, please arrive about 10 minutes early to find a spot in the viewing area. We ask that you do not block the highway by trying to watch from your vehicle.
