County Keeps Growing Faster
Grew 5 Times the State Average between 05 and 06; 1 in 5 residents new since 2000

Sublette County's permanent population grew by 5.7% between 2005 and 2006, according to estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. This year-to-year population jump of 394 new residents is by far the biggest in the county's recent history, if not the largest jump of all time. The county had been growing in the lower 4% range each year since about 2001.
This means that the county's resident population has grown about 25% since 2000, adding 1440 new people since that time. In other words, about 1 out of 5 of your neighbors has moved here since 2000.
The Census estimates do not include so-called "transient" or rotational workers, but instead focus on permanent residents by examining new building construction, driver's license exchange numbers, and other factors, and the estimates are considered to be relatively accurate in counting permanent residents. As many as 2000 additional non-resident workers are in the county at any given time, depending on the level of gas field activity.
Sublette County led the state in permanent population increase for the 3rd straight year, with Campbell county coming in second with a 4% population increase. Sweetwater county dropped to a 2% increase, but still adding 744 new residents. Sublette County grew from 6965 residents in July, 2005, to 7359 residents in July, 2006, according to the US Census Bureau. Estimates that break down Sublette County's population into the 3 towns and rural areas will be released by the U.S. Census in early summer.
