Horse Creek Fire Update: Saturday, June 30:
- There will be a Public Meeting at the Pinedale Library on Sunday, July 1, from 7-8 PM. The purpose is to give the public information about the Horse Creek Fire and to answer questions.
- Fire Danger has been raised from High to VERY HIGH on the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
- Stage I fire restrictions are expected to go into effect Tuesday, July 3rd.
- Size of fire: 7,660 acres, 40% contained, as of Saturday morning, June 30th.
- Saturday, June 30, Fire Perimeter Map (1.4 MB PDF) - Fire managers plan to continue burn out and mop up operations on Saturday. Demobilization of resources is scheduled to start on Sunday. Containment is projected for July 2nd.
- The Horse Creek Road is limited to all but authorized fire personnel. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
- The fire started at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 27 miles west of Pinedale off the Horse Creek Road.
- There is one structure threatened and structure protection is in place.
- No trail closures are expected at this time.
- Resources: There are approximately 419 fire personnel assigned to the fire. These include 15 engines from US Forest Service, Sublette County, and National Park Service. Six helicopters a Type I, 2 Type II, and three Type III. Five Type I hand crews, 7 Type II hand crews, 5 water tenders, and various overhead.
