The Pinedale Aquatic Center and Sublette Swim Club hosted the BreakOut! Swim Clinic on Saturday, August 25, at the new Pinedale pool. The aquatic center isn’t completely finished yet, but the Olympic competition pool is filled and some activities are occurring there.
Clinician was world-class athletes Josh Davis. Davis is the only male athlete in the world to win three gold medals at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He won two silver Olympic medals in 2000 (400m freestyle relay, 800m freestyle relay), three gold medals in 1996 (400m freestyle relay, 800m freestyle relay, 400m medley relay) and one gold in 1994 (400m freestyle). He is a motivational speaker, broadcaster and swim clinician, teaching thousands of young swimmers about the sport. He has combined with the Mutual of Omaha Gold Medal Team to do swim clinics across the country to teach and motivate youth.
“What’s most important is to show up, swim the best you can and have fun,” Davis said.
Participating students got instruction to build swimming skills, break bad habits, ask questions, get personal instruction on water strokes while training with some of the world’s top swimmers, and get autographs and memorabilia.
Tentative schedule is for the Pinedale Aquatic Center Leisure Pool to be done around mid-September and the opening in early October. _________________________________________ Info from the Pinedale Aquatic Center
Thirty-eight participants from 8 – 18 years old were coached and encouraged by Josh Davis, Olympic swimmer, on Saturday the 25th at the PINEDALE AQUATIC CENTER. Note how Josh demonstrates the “streamline” position on the competition pool bulkhead that spans the 25 yard width of the pool. Our local USA swim club hosted the event which drew swimmers from Pinedale, Big Piney, Jackson, Kemmerer, Douglas, Greybull, Laramie and even Nevada!
