Accident shuts down Green River WYO 351 Bridge Sunday

A very serious multi-vehicle accident shut down the Green River Bridge on WYO 351 east of Big Piney for several hours on Sunday, October 28. There were no fatalities.
According to Wil Gay with the Sublette County Emergency Management Service (EMS), the accident involved three vehicles: a suburban, a pick-up truck and a side-dump semi truck. Seven people, including four children, were involved.
The accident occurred around 9:30 am. Four ambulances from Sublette County Emergency EMS responded along with Big Piney Fire, Sublette County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Exact details of the circumstances of the accident were not officially available.
A woman driving the suburban, and her 6-year old daughter, were transported by ambulance to the Marbleton Clinic to be stablilized and then LifeFlighted to Idaho Falls for precautionary evaluation. The three other children were transported to Pinedale for evaluation and released. The other two adults were evaluated on the scene and refused transport.
The highway shut down for approximately eight hours and was reopened around 5:15 PM. A number of people waiting in the traffic line blocked by the wreck also offered assistance with this accident.

Fatality on WYO 351 claims Idaho Man on Thursday, October 25
In a separate accident four days earlier on Thursday, October 25, Allen D. Dillsworth, age 42, of Pocatello, Idaho, was killed on WYO 351 in an accident approximately seven miles east of Marbleton. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:38 pm at milepost 5.6.
Dillsworth was westbound on WYO 351 driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was coming up upon another westbound vehicle in front of him which had slowed and was attempting to make a left hand turn onto a private drive. Dillsworth passed the vehicle on the left after which he lost control of his vehicle. He steered to the right bringing his vehicle back into the westbound lane and onto the westbound shoulder. His vehicle then rolled 2½ times. Dillsworth was not wearing his seat belt and, during the rollover, was totally ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.
