2 Men arrested after high-speed chase near Marbleton
Night-time search in Eiden Industrial Park area nets wanted felons

On Tuesday, November, 20th, 2007, at approx. 10:24 pm., a Sublette County Deputy Sheriff observed a vehicle traveling at a very high rate of speed through Marbleton. After finally catching up to the vehicle, the deputy activated his lights and siren and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The vehicle continued on at a high rate of speed and refused to stop. After a short pursuit, the two male occupants of the vehicle, with Colorado license plates, eventually stopped and fled on foot in a residential/industrial area off of Muddy Creek Rd.
The deputy pursued the suspects on foot and observed the driver reach into a back pack and remove something. The deputy later lost the suspects in the dark. It was then determined that the Sublette County Tactical Team would be deployed to the area. The on scene Sergeant set up containment in the area with the assistance of the Wyoming State Patrol, and the Tac Team conducted a search of the area. As there were occupied homes nearby, those houses were checked first to ensure the safety of the citizens.
One of the suspects was located hiding under a chair in an empty trailer and the other one was found at a residence of a friend of his. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. A wanted check revealed that both subjects had felony warrants for their arrest and face local charges here in Sublette County. This incident is still under investigation with more charges possible.

Editor’s Note: The Big Piney/Marbleton EMS also assisted on this call with stand-by emergency ambulance services staged at US 189 and Muddy Creek Road while the search was being conducted. Note that this incident lasted approximately 2-1/2 hours from the initial high-speed chase from Marbleton, north past the fairgrounds, then onto Muddy Creek Road. The vehicle chase then changed into a foot pursuit and intensive night-time neighborhood search for the men after they bailed from their vehicle and fled into the darkness in the Eiden Industrial Park subdivision area. Kudos to the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office and assisting officers for their efforts in apprehending these wanted felons and keeping residents safe.
