Fremont Lake Skiing Nordic skiing along Skyline Drive offers scenic views of Fremont Lake and the Wind River Mountains. This photo was taken on Christmas Day. Ski conditions are excellent on upper Skyline Drive from the Fremont Lake scenic overlook to Elkhart Park. We are grooming this four-mile section about every two or three days and it is getting good use from local skiers. The mid-day temperature has been in the single digits at Elkhart, so the Trail Czar advises using the coldest wax you have.

Upper Surveyor Park has been groomed but is in only fair condition due to marginal snow coverage. Skating is not recommended. Surveyor Park is accessed from the White Pine Ski Area parking area.

Still more snow is needed on the remainder of the trail system before we begin grooming. We plan to start compacting the paved bike path portion of the CCC Pond trails if we can get about two more inches of snow here. That seems to be asking for a lot this year.
