EnCana contributes to Sublette County 4-H
Legos Robotics kits to be used for after-school enrichment to inspire interest in sciences

EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. contributed funds to Sublette County 4-H to purchase Lego Robotic kits for an after-school enrichment program at local public schools and by local 4-H Robotics Club members.
“Our goal is to inspire interest in the fields of science, engineering, agriculture and technology, and to provide additional learning opportunities within those fields,” said Robin Schamber, University of Wyoming/Sublette County Extension 4-H and youth development educator. “Locally, it would be great to encourage kids to choose these fields of study and someday fill industry positions.”
EnCana’s donation enabled the Sublette County 4-H to purchase six beginner Robotics educational kits and start-up software. Schamber will teach the six-week, after-school enrichment Robotics program. The class is open to middle school students and starts on Wednesday, February 6.
“These Legos robotics kits will create an opportunity for students to explore subjects related to the oil and gas industry,” said Chris House, EnCana Jonah Field operations leader. “EnCana is pleased to support any program that promotes and encourages students to pursue science and engineering fields.”
Once the six-week course is over, Sublette County 4-H student members will use the robotics kits to prepare for the County Fair Robotics Challenge this summer.
“EnCana has always been a great supporter of 4-H members at the livestock sale,” said Schamber. “Previously, EnCana’s funding benefited the individual member, but now, these robotics kits will benefit the program as a whole.”
