Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report: February 1
by Bob Barrett, Pinedale Ski Education Foundation
February 1, 2008
The Nordic skiing locally continues to improve with each storm. The entire 23 km trail system along Skyline Drive is now being groomed regularly. All trails are in good condition for classic and skating except the tie-in trail from lower Surveyor to Kelly Park which still has brush showing. We plan to do some yard maintenance on this trail section soon.
The Pinedale High School Nordic Ski Races will be held Friday and Saturday morning (Feb. 2 and 3) in Surveyor Park at White Pine. The trail system here, including the Tree Loop, Moose Ridge, Flat Line and Hummer will be in top condition for recreational skiers in the afternoon following the races.
All 5 km of the bike path/CCC Pond trail system can now be skied on groomed routes. The latest storm gave us enough snow to build barricades at the road entrances to the CCC Ponds and Fremont Dam and hopefully discourage wheeled vehicles from driving on the groomed trails. Parking is available at the CCC Pond entrance, the boat ramp and at the south end of the bike path off of Riverside Subdivision Road (CR-101).
