Send off for Pinedale Boys Basketball Team Wednesday
Headed to State Championship in Casper
March 4, 2008
A community send-off has been organized for the Pinedale Wrangler Boys Basketball team as they head to the State 3A Championships this week. Pinedale won the 3A West Regional tournament last weekend in Pinedale. The State Championship will be held in Casper.
The team will leave town with an escort by the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office and Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department trucks (complete with sirens and bells). They will leave the Wrangler Gym parking lot at 12:30 PM, out Lake Street, then out on Pine Street through town and out south US 191.
Businesses on Pine Street are asked to fly their booster flags, put up school colors or streamers, of whatever they can to show support. Everyone is invited to come out on the sidewalk (anywhere between A to Z Hardware and Ridley’s Grocery Store) or the Visitor’s Center, and wave the team on.
The Championship tournament will be in Casper on Thursday, March 6th. The Pinedale boy's first game will be on Thursday at 12:00 noon at the Casper Events Center. If the boy's win on Thursday, they will play on Friday at 7:30 pm. If they lose on Thursday, they will play at 12:00 noon on Friday.
Teams competing for the state title are: Pinedale, Lander Valley, Wheatland, Kemmerer, Lyman, Newcastle, Buffalo and Jackson Hole. Games will be played Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Brackets
