Governor's office fields wolf calls

A national environmental group's campaign to generate opposition to Wyoming's Wolf Management Plan prompted hundreds of calls to Governor Dave Freudenthal's office Tuesday, with just two from Wyoming.
The campaign continued Wednesday and as a result, Wyoming constituents attempting to contact the Governor's Office by phone may experience problems in reaching members of the governor's staff.
More than 600 calls from individuals, many saying they were reading from a script provided by the Defenders of Wildlife, were answered by the Governor's Office on Tuesday. Each call was fielded by a member of the governor's staff, who took the message, the caller's name and state of residence.
"By Wednesday morning, 682 calls had been answered, but only two of those hundreds of callers identified themselves as being from Wyoming," said Freudenthal's Chief of Staff Chris Boswell. "We'll keep answering them, just as we do calls from any member of the public."
The volume of out of state contacts may affect the office's ability to answer constituent calls from Wyoming.
"Folks will have to be patient," Boswell said. "Constituent calls will go into the same cue with those from the Defenders of Wildlife, and we'll answer them all."
Individuals seeking to contact the Governor's Office may also do so via email: governor@state.wy.us.
