Bear hunters reminded to remove their baits
by Wyoming Game & Fish
June 17, 2008
Spring black bear hunting season is now closed in all areas and hunters and outfitters are reminded that regulations require the removal of black bear baits on public land within one week after the close of the season.
The majority of bear seasons closed June 15, making June 22 the deadline to have baits off public lands. Game and Fish Commission regulations specifically prohibit burying baits. Some areas closed earlier this summer because the harvest quota, or limit of female bears, was reached. The areas will reopen this fall.
Anyone encountering a bear bait on public land after June 22 is asked to report the location to the nearest Game and Fish office.
