Temple Peak Summit
Wind River Range winter hike
June 18, 2008
It's spring in the valley, but still winter in the mountains. Hank Williams, Jason Mead and his son Micaiah, climbed Temple Peak on Saturday, June 14th. “Micaiah is 12, and this was his first mountain, and pretty challenging considering the steepness and the amount of snow,” Williams said.
12,600-foot-high Temple Peak is in the southern half of the Wind River Mountains in the Bridger Wilderness. In the very highest country, snow can remain year-round in the Wind River Range. The Continental Divide Trail and passes typically free up from snow in early July.
