Employees get one hour off work to vote
Department of Employment reminds employers to give workers time to vote
by Wyoming Department of Employment
October 31, 2008
Wyoming employers are reminded that state law mandates that employees are entitled to take one hour out of their work day to vote.
According to Wyoming Statute 22-2-111, any employee entitled to vote in a general election is entitled to absence himself/herself from work for a period of one hour, other than their meal period, as scheduled by the employer, in order to cast their vote on Election Day. The hour is to be with pay provided the employee casts his or her legal vote.
The hour off to vote does not apply to any employee who has three or more consecutive non-working hours during the time the polls are open.
