The Golden Dragon Acrobats performed to a full house in the Pinedale Auditorium on Wednesday night.

The group is the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company, with 2008 marking their 30th year of continuous touring in the United States. They used acrobatics, traditional dance, beautiful costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques to present a show of breathtaking skill and beauty. The group has traveled to all 50 states and around the world to over 65 countries on five continents. The members of the touring company hail from Hebei, China.

The show was a presentation of the Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC).

The troupe did an abbreviated show Wednesday afternoon to an enthusiastic audience of 3rd-8th grade Pinedale students, which came close to filling the auditorium.

During the Thursday evening performance, the female acrobat performing in Pas De Deux (Ballet Duo) fell and injured her leg, cutting that routine short as her partner carried her offstage. After a momentary lapse, the next routines quickly moved in and captivated the audience with more and more daring maneuvers, true to "the show must go on" world of live theater. We were later told that she rolled her ankle when she hit the stage, but quickly recovered. "She just bruised her heel, so it looked a lot worse than it really was. She came out again and was part of the second act," said Tim Ruland with PFAC. All of the routines were difficult and dangerous, executed with incredible skill and amazing accuracy. The audience was thrilled and awed, with each routine more colorful, daring and exciting. The skill, grace, strength and athleticism of these performers was breathtaking.

This performance had one of the biggest attendances ever for PFAC. The audience gave the troupe an enthusiastic standing ovation at the end of the program.
