by Dawn Ballou, Pinedale Online! December 26, 2008 A strong Pacific storm system produced heavy snow across western Wyoming Christmas Day and night as it moved through the intermountain west. The cold front brought moderate to heavy snowfall to western Wyoming and gusty winds which made holiday travel difficult. The storm brought 30 inches of new snow to White Pine Ski Resort, bringing their base total to 58 inches at the top. The Upper Green River Valley received 4 to 17 inches of new snow. Pictured here is more than a foot of snow piled up against the front door of a home near Big Piney the day after Christmas.
