Construction work on WYO 28 near Farson begins

March 7, 2009
(Farson) Contractors are taking advantage of mild weather conditions to get a jump start on construction activities on a 10 mile section of WYO 28, east of Farson.
Initial activities may bring periodic daytime lane closures as needed to perform shoulder work and other dirt work as well as fencing work between mileposts 4 and 14. There will be no full lane closures until after April 1.
After April 1, the contractor anticipates closing one lane of traffic over the Eden Canal at milepost 6.1 to begin rehabilitation of the bridge. While work is taking place on the bridge, traffic will be reduced to a single lane with a traffic signal in place to get traffic safely through the construction activities. The contractor anticipates having the rehabilitation work completed in mid July and begin paving through the entire project in August.
The $7.5 million contract includes widening the highway to allow 6-foot safety shoulders and added turn lanes, pavement overlay and isolated reconstruction work. The project was made possible through the additional funding the 2008 Legislature appropriated for highway construction and was awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission at its January meeting in Cheyenne to McMurry Ready-Mix of Casper.
McMurry anticipates that the work will be completed by Oct. 31, 2009.
