Homeowner Steve Allen died in the fire

Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 172 S. Maybell, west of the new skateboard park, in Pinedale around 1:00 AM Thursday morning. On March 12th, 2009, at approx. 12:55 A.M., the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fire at 172 S. Maybell Street in Pinedale. Upon arrival, the deputies found that the home was fully engulfed in flames. Deputies attempted to enter the residence, but due to the high volume of smoke and fire, they were unsuccessful. The Pinedale Fire Department and EMS personnel responded to the scene and discovered the home owner, Steve Allen, lying on the kitchen floor. They immediately began life saving measures as Mr. Allen was transported to the Pinedale Medical Clinic. At approx. 1:58 A.M, Mr. Allen was pronounced dead. A preliminary autopsy report revealed Mr. Allen died of smoke inhalation, pending a toxicology report. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
