NREPA, H.R. 980, the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, is scheduled for hearings in the House Resources Committee in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, May 5th at 2:00 PM. The bill designates 24 million acres of as wilderness in Montana, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming. If passed, Sublette County would go from 13.57% to 22.19% wilderness on lands administered by the Bridger-Teton National Forest and Bureau of Land Management.
The chief sponsor of H.B. 980-NREPA is Representative Carolyn Maloney, a Democrat from New York. There are 71 other cosponsors signed on to the bill.
