Afterschool Programming Planned County-wide for Fall

The Sublette County Child Care Coalition recently funded two afterschool coordinator positions for the 2009-10 school-year. One position will be in Big Piney and the other is in Pinedale. It is anticipated the coordinators will begin work in August.
The Sublette County 4-H/Youth Development program will oversee the coordinators. The curriculum for afterschool will focus primarily on non-traditional 4-H programming including civics, leadership, physical fitness and healthy lifestyles, science, engineering and technology. Special programs in the arts and culture are also being planned.
Programs are slated to begin at the inception of each school district’s school year. Coordinators will receive an orientation from Linda Barton, executive director of the Wyoming Afterschool Alliance. Barton has visited Sublette County on a number of occasions to launch afterschool programs.
