The Sublette County School District #1 Board of Trustees held a Special Meeting on Wednesday, July 22nd, to discuss the Bloomfield Subdivision Road to the new elementary school. The Board approved a motion for Layton Construction Company to construct a road from Ehman Lane to the site of the new elementary school building, for a cost not to exceed $200,000. Construction of the road will begin immediately.
According to board members, the school district originally had an agreement with Matt Harber, owner of the Bloomfield subdivision, to construct the road. However, that construction wasn’t planned to begin until 2011. The school district is moving forward with building the new school and plans to have it ready to open in 2010. Adding to the urgency, the main access to the school lot is currently via a road through Bloomfield Subdivision from US 191. That road is scheduled for construction work and will be closed to traffic, which will cut off access for construction equipment to the school parcel.
The price of the new road is $187,996. The road won’t be paved until the end of the summer in 2010, after construction is completed, so the asphalt won’t be damaged by heavy truck traffic during construction.
Ultimately, when all the Bloomfield Subdivision work is in place, there will be four roads that will provide access to the school. Currently there is only one in place to the school parcel. The new road approved today will put the second access in place. The school district is absorbing the full cost to build the entire length of road between the school parcel over to Ehman Lane.
