Last round of closures on I-80
WYDOT installiing overhead dynamic message signs
by Wyoming Department of Transportation
September 3, 2009
Motorists are advised to expect several one hour, night time closures next week in the Rawlins, Little America, and Fort Bridger areas of I-80.
The closures will occur at night on September 8, 9 and 10. All will run into early the following morning. The closures will accommodate WYDOT crews as they install overhead dynamic message signs. When operational, the new signs will enhance traveler safety by alerting drivers to emerging condition such as road and lane closures, hazardous roadways, and deteriorating weather.
Locations and times of the detours:
Tuesday, September 8 - Closure at mile marker 36 westbound I-80 (about one mile east of the Fort Bridger Interchange).
Wednesday, September 9 - Closure at mile marker 69 westbound I-80 (about one half mile east of the Little America Interchange).
Thursday, September 10 - Closure at mile marker 207 westbound I-80 (about two miles west of Rawlins). On the above dates motorists on the affected roadway should be prepared for three one-hour closures staggered between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Motorists approaching the closures will be alerted by portable dynamic message signs indicating the traffic stop ahead. Drivers must be prepared to wait up to one hour on the interstate. They will be asked to turn their flashers on until the road reopens.
This should wrap up the closures this year for overhead dynamic message sign installations on I-80.
