Governor publishes transparency Web Site
by Governor Freudenthal media release

Cheyenne - Finding State information just became a whole lot easier.
"We need to make sure everyone can quickly see what we are doing," Governor Dave Freudenthal said. "Given the economic conditions in the country and Wyoming, it is even more critical to use the resources of the State in the best way possible," he said.
Whether it's tax distributions, budgets, payments, investments, annual reports, or a variety of other documents and information - the public can now find them with a click of the mouse at the State’s new web site: http://www.wyoming.gov/transparency.html
Freudenthal released the web site more than three months earlier than the legislation (HB0144) required. It provides citizens and business owners access to data.
Representative Sue Wallis, sponsor of the original legislation, said every cent must count. "This is an awesome first step toward true transparency and citizen access into the intricacies of where our government revenue comes from, and where our tax dollars go," Wallis said. "Eventually, we need an interactive and searchable online database, accessible to every interested citizen that allows for detailed analysis of every government expenditure, right down to the contract level," she continued.
"We must consider new ways of improving our business practices, and managing our resources better than ever - providing easy access to the State’s data will help," said Chief Information Officer, Robert von Wolffradt. "As a first step in becoming more transparent, this new site consolidates various individual agency data sources all in one place," von Wolffradt said. He said there will be many enhancements and improvements to the website in the future.
