FWS tallies wolf conflicts 2009

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that Based on preliminary reports through October 30, 2009, a total of 21 cattle, 183 sheep, and 4 dogs were recorded as confirmed wolf kills, and 29 wolves were killed in subsequent control actions in Wyoming. These depredations occurred in the following areas: Sheep conflicts Location/ # of Sheep Lost/ # of Wolves Killed in Control Actions Rock Creek (N. of Pinedale): 37 sheep, 6 wolves killed Big Horn Mountains: 101 sheep, 2 wolves killed Dog Creek (Snake River): 45 sheep, 5 wolves killed Total: 183 sheep, 13 wolves killed Cattle conflicts Location /# of Cattle Lost / # of Wolves Killed in Control Actions Rock Creek (N. of Pinedale): 1 yrlg steer, 0 wolves killed Upper Green River: 7 cattle, 4 wolves killed Prospect Mtns./Sweetwater: 1 calf, 2 wolves killed Daniel: 1 calf, 0 wolves killed West of Cody: 6 cattle, 8 wolves killed Deer Creek (Casper): 1 calf, 0 wolves killed Big Piney: 1 calf, 0 wolves killed Dubois: 3 cattle, 2 wolves killed Total: 21 cattle, 16 wolves killed
