The Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) received a $5,000 donation from EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. to support the Educational Enrichment Residencies for elementary, middle and high school students in Big Piney and Pinedale schools.

The PFAC presents residencies, workshops and performances that promote creativity and attract people of diverse interests, backgrounds and age groups. EnCana’s donation will go toward artist fees, materials, travel and housing for seven cultural outreach and education residencies in Pinedale and four in Big Piney.

"EnCana supports programs that contribute cultural richness in the community, and the Pinedale Fine Arts Council is doing just that with these enrichment residencies," said Randy Teeuwen, EnCana community relations advisor. "The arts stimulate family and civic values, teach creative problem solving, inspire teamwork, and encourage ethnic and cultural diversity. We are excited to be a part of the Council’s vision to build a lifelong appreciation of the arts for all ages."

Upcoming residencies include Telluride bluegrass band winner Bearfoot, storyteller Diane Ferlatte, pottery maker Steve Schrepferman, Jackson Hole poet Matt Daly, theatrical clown Bob Berky, the Dancer's Workshop's and the Missoula Children's Theatre play.

"Extensive research shows varied and extended experiences with the arts enhances creativity, supports learning, broadens horizons, and enriches lives," said Dana Tully, PFAC executive director. "The arts are another form of communication. We want to illustrate its many facets and show how it covers all disciplines. We believe the arts is the center of the human experience."

In addition to EnCana, the PFAC has received funding for the artist in residency program from School Districts #1 and #9, BOCES (Board of Cooperative Education Services) and the Wyoming Arts Council Artists in Education program. Funds are also being allocated from the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation grant, the Sara Taylor Swift Foundation and donations from individuals and businesses. EnCana has supported the PFAC since 2003.

"We appreciate that EnCana supports educational and cultural outreach opportunities throughout our region," said Tully. "Donations make small organizations like ours viable entities. It’s a great way to not only contribute to our community, but also ensure that the future of Sublette County is one deeply rooted in the arts."
