Democrats and Republicans hold local county conventions
by Pinedale Online!
March 21, 2010
The Sublette County Democrats held their County Convention Saturday morning in the Lovatt Room of the Sublette County Library. This is the entry level-event for the local Democrats, the first step on their ladder where local Democrats can come together to determine the policies of their political party, and elect three Delegates to go to their State Convention. Fourteen people attended this year’s convention. The State Democratic Convention will be in Casper the weekend of May 14, 15, and 16.
The Sublette County Republicans also held their County Convention Saturday morning, in the County Commissioners' meeting room in the Sublette County Courthouse. Approximately 60 people attended the GOP convention, many saying this was their first-ever Republican County Convention. Platform, Resolutions and By-Laws changes submitted at the Precinct Caucuses earlier this month were brought up at the County Convention, discussed, modified, and voted upon by the delegates. Many of the earlier resolutions in the day were along the theme of States rights, individual rights, and limited federal government. The Republicans elected eight Delegates and eight Alternates to attend the State Republican Convention in Sheridan, which will take place from April 29th thru May 1st of this year.
