A storm system will move across western Wyoming Saturday with another round of significant snowfall. Snow is expected to continue through late Saturday morning in the southwest and through the late afternoon from the Tetons northward. Gusty west wind will also develop as the cold front approaches Saturday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon MDT Saturday for the Pinedale area.
SUMMARY AND TIMING Snow will continue through late Saturday morning. Winds will increase late Saturday morning as the cold front moves through the area.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS Snowfall of 3 to 5 inches is expected by noon Saturday.
WIND AND VISIBILITY Periods of moderate snowfall will reduce the visibility to around one half mile. As the northwest winds increase Saturday morning. Visibilities may even drop briefly under one quarter mile.
IMPACTS Travel along Highway 189 and 191 will be hampered by snow covered roads and sharply reduced visibilities.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST: Saturday: Snow showers, mainly before noon. High near 33. Breezy, with a west wind between 16 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 13. Breezy, with a west wind between 17 and 20 mph becoming calm. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Sunday: A chance of snow before noon, then a slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. East wind at 8 mph becoming south southwest. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Sunday Night: Snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. South southeast wind between 8 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Monday: Snow likely before noon, then rain and snow showers likely. Some thunder is also possible. Cloudy, with a high near 40. South southeast wind 8 to 13 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. West northwest wind between 11 and 15 mph.
