Mule Deer public meeting in Pinedale Feb. 23

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office (PFO) in coordination with the Pinedale Anticline Project Office (PAPO) will host a mule deer-focused public meeting on Feb. 23 at 9:00 a.m. in the PFO’s Rendezvous Room at 1625 W. Pine St. in Pinedale, Wyo.
This meeting is a follow-up to the Oct. 27, 2010 Wildlife Annual Planning Meeting (APM). The steps the BLM has undertaken in the interim and the selection process to be used for future mule deer mitigation projects will be presented. Public comments regarding the selection process and possible mitigation planning and implementation will be taken.
The Sept. 4, 2010 Mule Deer Monitoring Annual Report for the Pinedale Anticline Project Area (PAPA) is available on the JIO/PAPO website at http://www.wy.blm.gov/jio-papo/papo/index.htm.
As directed in the 2008 PAPA Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) Record of Decision (ROD), a general APM is scheduled each year encompassing a wide range of PAPA topics. However, a separate Wildlife APM was established to coincide more closely with the availability of wildlife data and to allow for a deeper and more efficient discussion of wildlife issues. Additional follow-up meetings are scheduled as needed.
