Traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and neurodegenerative disorders cause memory problems that are prevalent among United States veterans. St. John’s Institute for Cognitive Health, in partnership with University of Utah Center for Alzheimer’s Care, Imaging and Research, is pleased to offer an innovative clinical program that provides free diagnostic and proactive memory care to US veterans in the region.

The services offered through this unique outreach program include:
- Cognitive impairment and memory loss assessments
- Neuropsychological testing
- Supplemental diagnostic testing
- Proactive social work services

These services are available at no charge to veterans enrolled in the Veterans Administration’s health care system. They are provided onsite at St. John’s Institute for Cognitive Health in Jackson, Wyoming.

"Because there is a strong correlation between the military experience and memory problems, the benefit of this program to veterans is immense," says internist Dr. Martha Stearn, who established St. John’s Institute for Cognitive Health in 2009. "We at the Institute are thrilled to be able to provide crucial memory testing and diagnostic services to rural veterans who otherwise might not have easy access to the care they need."
