Outdoor Life magazine has released its "Top Towns 2011" list of top towns for Sportsmen. Pinedale, Wyoming was listed as their #2 Top Town. Bend, Oregon was named #1. Rapid City, South Dakota was named #3. Six of the top 20 towns were from Wyoming (Pinedale, Saratoga, Sheridan, Rawlins, Lander, Cody).
The magazine "Top 200 Towns for Sportsmen" program began in 2008 with the goal to provide their readers with "an exhaustive list of cities and towns that, in addition to having excellent and abundant hunting and fishing opportunities nearby, are also great places to raise a family and provide a high quality of life."
For their fourth-annual ranking, they highlighted towns that give the best chance of finding a good-paying job and allow living comfortably within means. With that in mind, they double-weighted three of our socio-economic categories this year to reward towns with low unemployment rates, high household income and a low cost of living. "We scoured the United States to find places where great hunting and fishing starts right at the edge of town."
